Vehicle Ownership Transfer

Vehicle Ownership Transfer - Hyderabad
You need following documents to transfer vehicle ownership on your name which was hypothecated to a bank/financier :

1. NOC
2. Forms ( Two forms each)
       i. 28 ( required only in case of jurisdiction changes between Current Owner and New Owner )
      ii. 29
     iii. 30 and
iv. 35 duly signed by bank/Financier
3. PUC (Copy)
4. Address Proof(Copy)
The address proof can be one of the following
1. Passport 2. Ration Card 3. Voter Id 4. Electricity Bill
            5. Telephone Bill 6. Pay slip. 7. Aadhar
Bank passbooks are not accepted
5. Insurance (Copy)
6. PAN Card (Copy)
7. Form ChecK list
Available at RTA office/ in the shops below the office
8. Original RC card
(Note:- Before handover please take photocopy. This would require till you get the RC from RTO Office.  Colour Xerox + Lamination costs Rs. 25/- in the shops available below the RTA Office)
9. Provide one Envelope/Postal cover with your full address filled - no stamp required. Not required as RTA is sending card in their own envelope.
10. There is an option to get the RC by hand, please check with some agent or admin officer and I recommend to go with this option.

Fill all the forms - Transferor is Current Owner, Transferee/ Transfer is New Owner

Another important point while filling address. Make sure to provide address in short form. This will be printed on the card and excess characters will be truncated/ discarded(~20 chars per line). In speed post, they will just send the RC card in polythene envelope which will have the visibility of the address in RC. If the address is long, then there are likely chances that your post man may not be able to recognize which address it is. This happened in my case.

Slot booking:
Book a time slot from RTA portal. Pay the challan amount online. Write the slot number on top of first page of the documents.

Go to the RTO office. After entering the RTA office (after filling the forms, envelope with self address, checklist), go to the right opposite end corner to Admin Office cabin where the administrator sits. He will verify the papers and redirects to appropriate counter(mostly 3 or 6) to submit your papers. They will charge you between Rs. 425 - 935/- based on the type of vehicle and will give the receipt.

They will send you the new RC in a 14 days through speed post.

The whole process will not take more than 45 mins in a normal case.

Once you get New RC , take the New RC + NOC Photocopy go to Insurance office and change the Insurance in your name by producing them a letter and the photocopies of the doc’s mentioned. Else you are driving a car without Insurance. This you need to get it done as soon as you get your new RC. With this you can claim NCB for next insurance renewal. Otherwise, insurance company will ask you to go for new Insurance, which comes without No Claim Bonus(NCB)
